Who we are

Street Up was established on the Sunshine Coast in 2023 to harness the power of lived experience in addressing homelessness. Our initiative operates independently and informally, despite being funded by the Sunshine Coast Council, allowing us to advocate effectively for those we serve.

We believe that the voices of those who have experienced homelessness are crucial in shaping policies and practices that truly address their needs. Through presentations, training, peer support, research, policy reviews, and consultations, our Lived Experience Leaders support service improvements and raise awareness of issues surrounding homelessness.

In collaboration with:

Real Insights, Real Impact:

Street Up brings first-hand perspectives that reveal challenges and gaps in current systems invisible to many. Our input can lead to transformative changes in service delivery and policy outcomes.

Building community relations:

Collaborating with people with lived expertise fosters better community relations, empathy, and understanding. It helps break down stereotypes and educates others about the complexities of homelessness and the varied and complex causes of homelessness.

Making a difference:

Street Up is about more than just consulting; it’s about creating a connected community where everyone’s voice is heard. Our initiative is grounded in optimism, honesty, respect, and collaboration.

I could see that the group has done a lot of work behind the scenes to prepare for their meetings and presentations.

They were very friendly and professional and provided us with lots of valuable insights and laughs along the way!
